Help Me Support a Sister!

Happy Monday!

Couldn't sleep.

I'm too emotional.

I went to bed overwhelmed with love and gratitude.

I have the most supportive, loving, generous friends.  They mean the world to me ... and when one of them is hurting, I hurt ... and I have to help.

Let me explain in this video I posted on my Facebook page yesterday afternoon ..

(Sorry!  The video is too long for me to add - copy and paste the above into your browser!)

OK!  Now I'm all choked up again!  Gulp.

I meant what I said.  Jennifer is the most amazing woman.  What she has been through over the last year and a half hurts my heart.  Can you even IMAGINE what it would be like to lose everything?  EVERYthing!  Every photograph, every sentimental Christmas ornament, every keep sake, every EVERYthing!

Jennifer got out of Fort McMurray with everything that is TRULY important in this world - her husband, her mother and her dogs.  Yes - everything else is just "stuff".  No, "stuff" does not matter ... but SOME "stuff" ... some stuff DOES matter.  That Christmas ornament your dad carved and painted.  That wedding ring your Great Grandmother left you.  That photograph of you holding your first born.  Some stuff DOES matter because those things stir happy memories and evoke strong emotions.

All that stuff.  Gone.

Jennifer lost all of that "stuff" and has been very raw and genuine in sharing her struggles, pain and tears with her friends as she fights to rebuild her life and move on.  Fingers crossed she gets the keys to her newly built home in the next few weeks so she can get some closure and stop living in limbo.

I offered to do a fundraiser for her last year.  She honours me by allowing me to help her.

As I said in the video - I want to help give Jennifer her "happy place".  As crafters, I know you know what that means.  That special "just for YOU" place where you can escape for a little while.  It's your safe, quiet, creative space where everything just "goes away" as your mind leaves all the stresses of your day and gets to run around like a little child, playing, laughing and enjoying.  THAT'S what I want to give her.  A safe, quiet, HAPPY place that will help her heal through creativity and calm.

The number of "Likes", "Shares", "Views" and "I'll take a pack" messages I have received from this video is truly overwhelming me.  I am SO excited to be able to bring so many of my friends together for a common purpose - to Support a Sister,

I look forward to many of my very best friends coming over and mass producing cards as we band together to raise up another woman.  Love and Friendship.  That's all that matters in this world.  Truly.  Love and Friendship ...

If you live in Canada and can help me help Jennifer I would be very grateful.  My friends and I will happily make you a set of these notecards and envelopes - 20 in all - 5 each of these 4 designs ...
I hope to have them all created by the end of October, at which point I will mail them to you.  I'm asking $35.  You can find me on Facebook at Tamara's Paper Trail.  Message me.

Thanks for listening, helping if you can, supporting me and helping Jennifer get her Happy Place back.  xoxoxo

Winter Wonder Simplicity

Happy Sunday!

Jut a clean, simple, quick one today.  It's BEAUTIFUL out and I have an urge to be outside!  Fall is my FAVE!

Last night I was in my Crave Cave ... AGAIN ... alas - my mojo was gone :(  I was sad ... but not surprised.  I have made SO many cards this week ... and then I was "done".  Nothing.  Nada.  Zip.  I played with my Glossy White card stock for an hour or two trying to make a Northern Lights card.  It was crap.  I moved on.  Eventually I spied my new Winter Wonder embossing folder and managed to come up with this little cutie ...
OK, so it's not very intricate or fancy.  No layers or crazy embellishments but SOMETIMES that's just what we need.  Quick and easy!  This one will be great for my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack!

The snowflake is embossed right on the card base.  Remember to spritz your paper with water to soften the fibres of the paper before running it through the Big Shot.  This will help prevent the paper from cracking or buckling.

Once I had the snowflake I wanted a clean, simple sentiment.  I went through my retired framelits and came up with the "Merry"(from "Expressions" framelits).  I didn't relish the thought of having to attach the sentiment with my fine tip glue pen.  Although that glue works very well (and I use a LOT of it) I still tend to put too much on and it oozes out from behind the sentiment every time.  AHA!  Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets to the rescue!
You get 12 sheets of 6" x 12" of adhesive loveliness for only $13.50 Canadian (plus s/h/gst).  This stuff makes your die cut an instant sticker!

You simply peel the printed top off the sheet, stick it to the back of the card stock you want then run your die and card stock through the Big Shot.  Your piece will come out as a sticker!  It's fanTASTIC and I will be using it a LOT this crafting season on all my snowflake and intricate die pieces!!

I finished the card off with large and mini gold sequins.  The large ones were attached with glue dots, the small ones with fine tip glue.  Yes... attaching those small ones is a REAL pain in the tucas but I love using different sizes for added interest ... and since the rest of the card is so quick and painless a LITTLE pain is acceptable.

That's it for today!  Get out there, enjoy the fall loveliness and have a SUPER stampy day!!

Christmas Notecard Fun

Happy Saturday!

Well ... another night of not sleeping.  I got tire of lying in bed with 1,000 things running through my head so figured I'd get up and get at 'em!  I have SOOOO many posts to share!  I seem to be some sort of crafting Ninja this week!!  It's been very good for my soul to spend so much time being creative!!  It really is amazing how the more you create the easier it is!  When I'm away from it for a week or two I really struggle.  Not this week!  Top tip ... don't be afraid to "waste" paper!  I often hesitate to stamp on a card base or layer in case I "screw it up".  Don't wanna waste paper, now do we??  Seriously?  I have 7 packs of Whisper White paper ... I think it's ok to throw the odd "yuck" one away!  Just jump in!  Have a pile of pre-cut layers beside you and just start stamping.  Grab an ink color you're drawn to and get that image on paper ... and go from there.

Check out the three versions of a quick note card I made in a matter of minutes ...

I knew I wanted to use Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler ... but didn't know how ... so I just kept grabbing stamp sets (retired and new) and got to it!  I like them all but, when I asked "my people" which one they liked best the favorite by FAR was "the camel one".

I liked that one too .... but it didn't have a star ... and it needed a star!

The camel image is from the retired set Come to Bethlehem.  The sentiment is from the retired set The Sounding Joy.   I found the PERFECT star to add in the NEW set Night in Bethlehem.
NAILED it!!

I LOVE how it turned out.  Let the mass-production begin!

As I mentioned, I have soooooo many cards to share!  If you can't wait to see them pop over to Facebook and search for me at Tamara's Paper Trail.  "Like" and "Get Notifications" and you'll be in the loop whenever I pot a new project!

Coffee.  More coffee.

Have yourself a lovely, stampy day!

Bike Ride Fun!

Happy Friday!!

I couldn't WAIT to post today!  If you follow my business Facebook Page, "Tamara's Paper Trail", you will see that I have been making (and posting) LOADS of fabulous cards over the last few days.  I normally post them on my blog in the order I created them ... but this one just couldn't wait.  I love it SO much!  Check.  It.  Out!

*Swoon*

I really don't know what it is about this card but I could just sit and stare at it forEVER!  The set I used is called "Bike Ride", available in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue.  Yes, it's part of a bundle and you save 10% when you buy it as such.  Yes, it's an investment bundle, at a cost of $54.75 (plus /h/gst) ... and yes, not being made of money I did hem and haw over whether or not to get it.  I'm not normally one for "fussy" cards .. and given how many stamps and framelits come in the set I was leaning towards "nah" ...
I'm SO glad I rarely listen to my "logical" brain when it talks to me.  I'm SO glad I got it!
I think there are two main reasons why I love this card so much.  #1 is just the POP of the black.  My Archival Black was super juicy and is just such a striking look when stamped on the white.  Add in the delicious Bermuda Bay (or Real Red) contrast and BAM!  The black border/mat ties it all together.  #2 is the PROCESS on this one.  I've had a stressful week and my mind just hasn't been able to shut off.  SO many thoughts all day ... and night.  This card too me about an hour to complete.  Craig was in the other room, listening to some of my favorite music - KD Lang and Eva Cassidy.  Their songs and voices truly move me.  My mind (for once) was quiet.  I just putzed along with my card - stamping, cutting, playing ... I was relaxed and THOROUGHLY enjoyed the PROCESS of creating.  When I was done I liked what I had created ... and it was all mine.  The last few days I have been CASEing (copying) beautiful cards created by other talented artisans.  This time it was all about me.  Oh sure, I had turned to Pinterest for some inspiration ... but then I just started creating.  No time pressure, no expectations .... just creating.  It was JUST what I needed.  Yes - I love this card for so many reasons!

Now - for some details ...

The card is a standard card at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
The white top layer is 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"  and the black mat is 3 1/2" x 4 1/2"
The sentiment is from You've Got This - the bike is from Bike Ride

I stamped the bike frame and tires in Black Archival Ink and/or Bermuda Bay ink.  I used my markers to color the seat, handle bars and pedals (even though there ARE stamps in the set that will color them too ... I just found markers more exact and faster).

I cut the frame and wheels out with the framelits.

I ran the white layer through the Big Shot with the rock thinlit die - it just debossed wee rock images, for the ground.  I then used my finger dauber to hilight the rocks.  I had a bit of a blend of colors for the rocks.  I started with some Smoky Slate but (if memory serves) I may have used a bit of Sahara Sand as well.

The bike basket and handle bar tassles were cut from Silver Foil card stock using the framelits and adhered with my fine tip glue.

The bike frame is popped up with dimensionals (love the new mini dimensionals!!) and the whole mat/layers are popped up as well.  Two rhinestones in the middle of the wheels finish it off.

Yes, this was what I call an "OTT Card" - Over The Top.  LOTS of Big Shotting.  Know, though, that you don't HAVE to make it so complicated!  These images can be stamped withOUT punching them out ... you just need to use a bigger top layer so the wheel fit on the paper ... or don't USE a layer - just stamp right on the card front.  I WILL make a card without cutting pieces out, just to get more use out of it.  I don't always have time to make something so elaborate .. but when I DO have the time, THIS is the set I'm going to reach for!

That's it for now - off for my morning walk!  have a fantastic, stampy day :)

Just Breathe CASE

Happy Thursday!

I've been a crafting FOOL this week, as I'm playing with every new set I have, prepping for my September 8th Holiday Catalogue Open House (aka Show and Tell!).  Whenever I prep for these events I try to make at least one sample with virtually every new set I have.  That takes a LOT of time .. but MAN do I love it.  You make think SU Demonstrators spend hours every day playing with paper and ink but, truth be told, we spend about 80% of our time at the computer and doing the "behind the scenes" stuff - marketing, planning, packaging. prepping and so on.  The actual DOING (aka the fun stuff) doesn't happen as often as we would like!  So what is a girl to do when so many samples to make but only a few weeks to do it?  Why turn to Pinterest, of course!

When I create card I generally do so with a purpose and class in mind.  I',m hi-lighting a certain technique or product ... but the card needs to be duplicatable in a class and I need to keep the cost of the card manageable.  When I create for my DISPLAYS, though, all bets are off!  I can use LOADS of layer, TONNES of embellishments and SCADS of punched out pieces.  That's exactly what this GORGEOUS card, created by Brian King, has.  Check it out ...
I LOVE this card!  Brian's original used the delicious Tip Top Taupe brown, whereas I used Sahara Sand ... and his flowers were Watermelon Wonder, whereas mine are Rose Red but the card packs the same "WOW" factor.  I just love it!  6 layers of card stock (Sahara Sand and Very Vanilla), punched out pieces (the branch and flower from Colorful Seasons) and tonnes of pearls.  The 4th layer uses the Hardwood stamp set (inked with Sahara Sand ink) and the top layer is popped up on dimensionals.

Gorgeous.

Is this one that I will mass produce?  Never.  Is it one I will make a few of for very special friends who need a BIG long distance hug?  You bet.

No point in re-inventing the wheel.  A fab card is a fab card ... and I have lots more fab cards to share with you over the next week or two ... CASEd from other very talented designers.  Pop in again soon so check those out.  In the meantime ... have a stampy day!

Christmas Notecards

Happy Wednesday!

Another lovely Fall morning in Edmonton!  SOOOO enjoying my morning 5 km with Koda.  It's crisp but you can still wear sandals without getting cold toes.  You feel all tingly from the bite in the air.  You can wear shorts or jeans and are neither too hot nor too cold.  The duck are sleeping.  The geese are pre-flight-south grain binging.  All is quiet.  Love it! .. and now I want to go for our walk so I better crack on with my post!

Today I'll share with you a smattering of more Notecards that I put together for my Fundraiser (yes ... I promised to reveal details on that VERY soon!  "Like" my Facebook business page "Tamara's Paper Trail" as I will be posting a video on it there first!)

Here are some quick cards I came up with.

The first one uses the new Carols of Christmas Bundle using Basic Black, Bermuda Nay and RIch Razzleberry ...
The next one uses the Carols of Christmas same set (framelits), with the sentiment from Christmas Pines ...
The third one uses Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry again - this time using the sentiment and snowflake from a new holiday catalogue set called Snowflake Sentiments.  The tiny flakes are from ... gosh ... I forget!  Thought it was Star of Light but it's not.  There are many sets that have small snowflake images you can use.  I'll research it later ...
The Lemon Lime Twist card uses two retired sets.  The Christmas banner is from last year's retired Hostess set and the "Merry" is from two years ago ... but again, the names escape me (I need to be in my Cave when I do these posts!).  I'll research that too and get back to you!
This last one is my fave ... just something about it!  So quick and easy!  The sentiment and trees are from a new set in the holiday catalogue called Watercolor Christmas and was design to work with a Christmas Card kit.  I love it!  I used Early Espresso and then colored the trees with my LEmon Lime Twist, Wild Wasabi and Garden Green markers.  Some retired washi tape (sweater weather?) and some rhinestones finish it off.
So there you have it - some quick and easy Notecards that can be cracked of in minutes!

Right!

8:29 and the morning walk awaits!  Whatever you get up to today I hope you have a stampy day!

Big On Christmas ... and some FAB boots!

Happy Tuesday!

Wow did I have a fun day yesterday!  Back-to-school clothes shopping with my Baby Girl, Alicia.  Seriously.  I clothes shop vicariously through my girls.  They are at the size and shape that EVERYTHING looks good on them.  They could put on a black garbage bag, tie it around the waist with a rope and look super cute!  It's so fun to play "fashion show" with them!!  Alicia is turning into quite the little fashionista ... which translates into "more expensive" but they have a spending limit and they stick to it.  Alicia gets fewer clothes, because of the higher price tag but she seems ok with that.

After we finished shopping for HER it was MY turn!  We were at Winners ... and I spied them.  The Boots.
Now I had seen these boots last week, when I was shopping with my eldest, Rebecca.  At the time they caught my eye (how could they NOT!  Burn-the-retina-off red!) ... and I laughed at how tacky they were.  I also scoffed at some green velvet boots, some white 60's plastic-looking boots and a few other "holy COW" crazy items".

NOt gunna lie ... kept thinking about these gawdy red ones.  Whilst looking for shoes for Alicia there they were again ... calling my name.  I tried them on just for fun (and to embarrass Alicia) ... and then it happened.  I fell in love.  Tacky?  Fabulous?  Don't know but either way I HAD to have them ...
They looked SO much better on my feet than they did on the shelf.  Yup.  Then I remembered the mantra I keep seeing on Facebook ... "Life's Short.  Buy the Shoes" ... or in this case, the boots.

And I did.

And I smiled.

And they make me rediculously happy.

Best part?  $40.  $40!!!!  Seriously?  Bit of a no-brainer.

I now own the boots ... and I went to bed smiling (*maybe* I was wearing the boots ...)

Still smiling this morning as it's time to share a few more projects with you.

I'm doing a fundraiser (I'll share more about that another day very soon).  FOR this fundraiser I needed to design a number of Christmas cards.  The most cost and time-efficient cards to make for a fundraiser are Notecards.

I dug out a few of my favorite retired Christmas sets and had a play.  These are what I came up with using the retired "Big on Christmas" set ...

So fun!  Notecards are slightly smaller than a standard card .. measuring 5" x 3 1/2".  In all cases I ran the base through the Big Shot with various retired embossing folders and stamped the images on a layer measuring 4" x 2 1/2".   I used my Real Red and Emerald Envy markers to color the works and my Clear Wink of Stella pen to add some glimmer.  Each one also sports a rhinestone for a little added jazz and the layer is popped up on dimensionals.

Oh!  Hey! Would'ja look at that ... just realized the cards match my new boots!  Hee hee - it was meant to BE, I tell ya!!

Right ... enough rambling for today - I need to stroll the pooch and get some work done.  Been awake since 4:23 am, UP since 5:30 am and I'm DETERMINED to be productive today .. at least until I crash and burn around 3:30 this afternoon!

Whatever you get up to today I hope you have a stampy day ... and that you find some FAB boots to treat yourself to!!!

Stamp-a-Stack Deets

Happy Monday!

MAN are the days ever speeding up this month!  As "back to school" is only 2 weeks away there seems to be some sort of panic in the children to actually DO something with their friends before the summer is over!  My calendar is now FULL with scheduled get-togethers to go shopping, swimming, bowling, climbing, sleep overs and who knows WHAT else!  I guess MY plans for deep relaxation ad lots of crafting are out the window!  Bring on September, I say!

Right.  I may not get EVERYTHING on my list done this week but I'm determined to post my projects from last week (and last month!)

First up ... the projects I promised you over a month ago, that came from my summer Stamp-a-Stack!

So sorry it's taken so long!

The first card was a CASE from my friend and downline Claudine Dulaba.  She had shared this card on our team Facebook page ...
SOOOO pretty ... and perfect for so many occasions!  I changed the colors and came up with this version ...
Now I'm not gunna lie.  This card is GREAT to make one or two ... but do NOT use it for a Stamp-a-Stack!  LOTS of passes through the Big Shot are needed!

I used Whisper White and Pool Party cards stock.  I used the Detailed Floral Thinlits and the Botanical Builder Framelits (for the flower).  The ribbon is (retired) white seam biding and the sentiment is from a retired set.  The beauty of this card is that any sentiment you have on hand works well with it!

The card is a bit of an illusion - the top part, which is stamped with the "Thank You" is actually one long piece of 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" whisper white card stock that was run through the Big Shot with the thinlit just along the bottom.  The Pool Party piece started off as 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" as well.  This makes for easy adhering.  I just taped the whisper white top piece to the pool party behind" piece along the top ... no need for fussy gluing of the flowery part.  Make sense?  Hope so!

Next up is my SUPER quick and easy "Celebrate" card.
I made a quick video of it over on my business Facebook page "go to Facebook and search for Tamara's Paper Trail).

It uses a Whisper White base, a strip of 41/2" x 3" Glossy White card stock that I debossed with my Celebration Duo embossing folder and then swiped with various inks, using a finger dauber.  I used Flirty Flamingo. Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight, Emerald Envy and Island Indigo.  I mounted it on a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 2".  The 6" strip rushed ribbon is attached using a piece of Tear and Tape - just lay down the tape and squiggle the tape onto it in any manner you choose - just fold and stick as you go!

Last up is this little cutie that uses the stamp set Happiest of Days ...
I love this card!  I was determined to USE it as loved it in the catalogue .. and bought it ... and then struggled to make a card with it!  Yes it happens a lot.  Smaller images like these presents often get me "stuck".  I try a few things, they don't work out and then the set just sits on the shelf for the next 2 years collecting dust.  This time I just kept on trying until I got there".  My top tip for using small images is to find a layout you love that used designer papers and/or banners ... like I did.  I used the "Pick a Pattern" designer paper (the Crushed Curry stripes) and was thrilled how it matched the "organic" stripes on the present images.  So!  I used a 4" x 1" strip of the designer paper, a 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" strip of the Indigo card stock and a 1/2" strip of basic black.  The first two I punched with the Triple Banner punch to get the banner end. The black strip I jut cut with my paper snips.   I punched the presents out with my ... 2 1/2" (I think) circle punch and used my finger dauber and black ink to hilight the circle edge.  Indigo and Curry markers were used to color the presents and wee rhinestone are on top of each present.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  The image i popped up n dimensionals.

The other two cards I used for my Stamp-a-Stack have been featured in previous posts (July 2 and July 15th) ... but I don't believe I shared any dimensions ...
For the butterfly card the Whisper White sentiment piece measures 1 1/2" x 3 1/2", the Basic Black strip is 1" x 5 1/2" and the Berry Burst is 1" x 5".  The strips are punched with the triple banner punch.
For this card the Lemon Lime Twist Whisper White piece measure 1 1/2" x 5".

So there you have it!  It took me over a month but it HAS been on my radar!  Thanks for popping in!  Come back tomorrow when I will (hopefully) have another project to share.

I'm off for my morning stroll with my favorite Doodle Dog.  Have a stampy day!

I'm Looking for Club Members!!

Happy Saturday!

Well!  I just realized I have now run out of pre-scheduled videos!  Time to get posting "real" projects again!

The good news is I just started blogging SEVEN projects!  Yes, I've been a creating fool the last two days.  The bad news is I haven't actually FINISHED the blog posts yet.  Stay tuned, though, I should be able to start chipping away at them Monday!

In the meantime I thought I'd throw out another call to all Canadians who may be interested in joining my 10-month purchasing club.  Sadly I can't invite everyone everywhere to join as we can't cross-border order/ship.  If you're i Canada, however, you're "in"!  It doesn't matter WHERE in Canada you live - you can still be part of the club.  Those in Edmonton (or surrounding areas) will be able to attend my classes and save a bit on shipping but since this is primarily a "purchasing club", your actual location doesn't matter.  Here is the email I sent out last week to those on my email list ...

Happy Thursday!

Did you see my Facebook Live video yesterday where I opened my box of new toys from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue?  If you didn’t pop over and check it out (search for Tamara’s Paper Trail on FB).  Soon many awesome new products!  Tonight I will definitely be heading down to play!

If you are interesting in joining the fun please get in touch.  Space is limited and I already have half the spaces spoken for!  Make sure you register by the deadline to get in on the free draws - you don't want to miss out on those!

That's it for tonight - I'm off to hit the Craft Cave to come up with more samples for my upcoming Open House on Friday, September 8th.  If you're in the Edmonton area I hope you will swing by!

Have yourself a stampy night!

(PS .... at the start of my "email" I mention my Facebook post.  If you haven't already, pop over to Facebook and search for Tamara's Paper Trail.  "Like" the page and you'll have much more timely project posts in your in-box.  FB is MUCH faster than blogging!)

Hearts Come Home Bundle by Stampin' Up!

Happy Saturday!

No, I haven't fled the country!  I'm still here!  I have spent part of July relaxing by walking Koda, cooking new, "clean" meals and doing things with the family.  The REST of the time I have been planning my butt off!!  Planning classes, planning projects, planning Bingos, planning, planning, PLANNING!

I had great visions of actually CREATING during July but it wasn't to be ... hence no project posts in SO long!  (I do still have my Stamp-a-Stack projects to give you details on but I have seriously created NOTHING new lately!).  Heck, last week the girls were at Circus Camp (learning to juggle, walk on stilts, magic tricks and so on) and I THOUGHT I would have 6 hours a day to craft.  Nope.  Didn't hit the cave ONCE!  Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't even cleaned up from my July 23rd Stamp-a-Stack yet!  Geez!!!

So!  Creating is quickly moving up the list to "must" status (my family is rapidly approaching being in danger due to my lack of crafting ... soon someone might get hurt if I don't get down there SOON!!).

My box of ALL NEW HOLIDAY CATALOGUE toys will arrive this week so you won't be able to STOP me once UPS shows up at my door!!!  I am PLANNING to do a LIVE Facebook post of the box-reveal.  If you haven't already, find my business Facebook Page "Tamara's Paper Trail" and "like" and "get notifications" so you don't miss THAT fun!

In the meantime, I have jut queued up a SWACK of videos showing products from the NEW catalogue (which is available for ordering starting Sept 1!)

For the sake of time I'll just post, without my usual rabling *lol*

Enjoy, thanks so much for always popping back to see if I'm still alive and/or posting projects ... and have a stampy Saturday!
