Super Quick Teeny Tiny Treats

Happy … what-the-heck-day-is-it??

Where do the hours GO???  I had NOTHING on the calendar today.  NOTHING!  It was cold and windy and the "plan" was to clean the house (I swear I heard the bathtub whimpering, begging the bath towel to fall off its hook and wiggle around to clean it!).  Alas … the call for "more soup, please!" came from the in-laws so off I went to Costco to stock up on soup-making supplies.  I LOVE making soup and my in-laws love EATING my soup.  Who am I to deny my fans??  … and I love being able to help them have a nutritious meal.  They eat like birds and, at 80+ years old they aren't into cooking much anymore.  I make them a few batches of soup to have in their freezer.  A 2 cup freezer bag will feed both of them for one meal.   Any-who …. got the food … then needed more freezer bags, so off to Dollarama … then needed taco shells for dinner, so off to Sobeys … then home to put it all away … a bite of lunch, a quick delivery then off to get the kids.  I think I finally got to make my BED around 3:30 … and DID manage to clean the house by 4:30.  Bam!  Day gone!  Why am I rambling on about all this??  Well, I suppose to give you a little snippet of my days and to let you know that you aren't alone in your "there aren't enough hours in the day!" feeling.  So!  Who the heck has time to make little gifts for teachers, friends, co-workers?  With THIS little project, pretty much anyone!  Check these out .…
Seriously.  The only remotely time consuming thing about these little cuties was assembling the boxes!  If you haven't seen the Clear Tiny Treat boxes in the catalogue you need to order some.  You WON'T be sorry!  They are the cutest little 2x2x2x2 boxes EVER!  They are $10.50 (Canadian) and you get 16 of them.  Cheap like borscht!  (As Pa would say).
Once you assemble your box you're almost done! *lol*

I took 1 sheet of the fanTABULOUS (should TOTALLY be a word!) Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper ($14.50) …
.. and cut it into 2" x 6" strips.  I then scored each strip (GENTLY so you don't cut right through the paper!) at 2" and 4".  (sorry I didn't take any pictures!)

I then simply placed the "U" shaped strip inside the clear box - I didn't even attach it with adhesive!

I then cut another 2" x 2" piece and DID attached that to the inside of the lid with a little snail.  I SUPPOSED I could have just used a 2" x 8" strip of paper instead but I figured there would be a little error in the scoring and didn't want the DSP to buckle when I closed the lid … so I just went with the 2" x 6" strip and cut the separate 2" x 2" piece for the lid.  Make sense?  I DID find that I had to trim the 2" x 2" piece a HAIR smaller to fit perfectly.

I filled the boxes with the traditional striped Christmas peppermint candies and "scotch mints".  I think I used 5 of each.  Then I just needed some ribbon to keep it closed and add the finishing touch.
I made some with 22" of the Real Red 3/4" Stitched Edge Ribbon ($11.25) …
I then spotted my Tip Top Taupe Striped Ribbon ($10.75) ..
… and used 22" of that for the remainder of my boxes.  Although the DSP uses Crumb Cake the Taupe still works.  I've gotta say whilst I like the traditional red ribbon LOOK, the Taupe ribbon was more pliable and easier to tie.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE these little treats!  Aside from being so stinkin' cute they are ridiculously quick, easy and inexpensive to mass produce AND you can use any DSP you have on hand for any occasion!  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentines Day, Mother's Day … flu them with paperclips, flowers seeds, tea bags, candy, bath salts, chocolates - the possibilities are endless!  My kind of project!

So that's it for my rambling for tonight.  Time to grab a cup of tea and watch a few episodes of Corontion Street.  I seem  to have 26 episodes recorded.  Yup - where DO the hours go???

Have yourself a stampy evening! xo

Candy Cane Cute!

Happy Saturday!

I've got about half an hour while my broccoli soup perks away so thought I'd post.  I SHOULD be cutting paper for my Stamp-a-stack tomorrow alas my feet are acting up today so I have to keep taking breaks …

Today I'm sharing two cards I made using the DELICIOUS Candy Cane Lane Designer Paper.  Seriously.  I haven't loved a DSP this much in AGES!!  ALL of the designs are great but I just couldn't WAIT to play with the gingerbread house design.  This is what I came up with ...
I LOVE it!  This is one of those cards that you CAN jazz up with every embellishment you have … or it can pretty much stand alone without ANY embellishments.  You can just grab your 2" circle punch to inch out the "short" house image, pop it up on dimensionals, stamp a sentiment and be done!  … of course that's not usually the way I roll so I DID dig out a few more toys, just for fun.

I used the Flurry of Wishes stamp set in Early Espresso for the sentiment.  I also ran a 2" strip of Whisper White card stock through the Softly Falling embossing folder, added some of the Candy Cane Lane Bakers Twine.  The final touch (which I loved!) was adding a punched heart from.  I used the same DSP sheet as the houses, just the reverse side … and used the teeny scraps from between the circles I cut out.  What crafter doesn't love using up all the little scraps????

I layered Whisper White Crumb Case and Real Red for this little cutie.

I had so much fun with that one I decided to make another one, using the tall house...
This one has a 2 1/2" circle punched out of the DSP and the house popped up on dimensionals.  I made a banner, stamped the sentiment from Holly Berry Happiness in Early Espresso and some Candy Cane Land Washi tape.  I added some gold thread to the chimney (hee hee) and then cut out one little gumdrop from the Washi Tape to add to the banner.  Key-ute!

I prefer the first card - not as "busy" in my opinion but I do love them both.  This suite of products really does make crafting easy!

I need to tend to my soup now so I'll go.  Pop in again soon - and have a stampy night!

Totally Trees for Fall

Happy Friday!

More classes tonight … and THIS is one of the cards we will be making ...
I love love love love LOVE this card for my fall birthday!  I seriously could look and touch it over and over and over.

The base us made using the Cable Knit Embossing Folder …
A top tip for using this folder … spritz your paper with a little water before running it through the Big Shot.  It will relax the fibres of the paper a little so get a deeper embossed image.  You also only need to use ONE of the clear acrylic pads.  This folder is SO THICK that you only need one plate!

Back to our card ..
Oh … a little aside.  When I was doing my Research and Development last week (well … ok … when I was on Pinterest …) I came across THIS card ...
I thought it was a quick, fun layout and planned to CASE it for my Stamp-a-Stack on Sunday.  Ya … let's review how mine looks …
*lol*  Funny how what you set OUT to do rarely looks anything like the end result, right?  *lol*

For my car I used Soft Suede for the trees and then Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Cajun Craze for the leaves.  The Sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms …
… in Soft Suede.  I added leaves of the same colour that were punched out using the Tree Builder Punch …
… and attached with glue dots …
I used some Vanilla Thick Bakers Twine to tie around the layer, popped the layer up on dimensionals and BAM!  One awesome birthday card for fall birthdays!
Whatever you get up to today I hope you get some crafting in … and have a stampy time :)

Trendy Tree CASE

Happy Thursday!

The Project Life session with the seniors was GREAT!  What a fabulous group of people - I can't WAIT to go back again in two weeks!!

Today isn't quite as busy .. but it's a half day for the kids … then a doctors appointment for Becca (some mystery lump on her ear I've been meaning to get checked out for over a month now!) … then dinner theatre for Craig's Mom and Dad's 60th wedding anniversary.  Ack!  Need to make a card!  Right … moving on then …

I CASEd this card 100% from the fabulous Mary Brown over at "stampercamper.com" ...
Isn't it FAB??  We used the new Totally Trees set which I totally ADORE!
We used Pool Party paper and ink, Rich Razzleberry paper and ink, Sweet Sugarplum ink, Basic Grey Ink (tree trunks) Pear Pizzazz ink (grass), enamel dots and Silver ribbon
We also ran the base through the Softly Falling Embossing Folder …

LOVE!  This is one of the cards we will be making at my Stamp-a-Stack on Sunday.  If you are in the Edmonton area and want to come message me!  I have room for two more stampers!

Right - off to make that 60th Anniversary Card before I pick up the kids!  Have a stampy day!

Be Jolly By Golly CASE

Happy Wednesday!

Ack!  Big day today!  I'm off to show the seniors at the Rosedale Senior Residence how to use Project Life to get this pictures in albums and documented for them, and their families, to enjoy for years to come.  Wish me luck - totally flying by the seat of my pants today!

Today I'm sharing a CASE from the Holiday Catalogue itself.  Yup.  Bought this stamp set just because I loved the "Peace on Earth" font/size and this card sample the designers made ...
Love!  It's great how they used the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.
Here is the stamp set used "Be Jolly Good Golly" (?!)  Don't quite know how I FEEL about THAT name *lol*

It is in Soft Sky.  I used Crumb Cake for the church and Pear Pizzazz for the trees.  Hard to see but I added some Wink of Stella to one of the Scribble lines.  Love!

Must run!  Have a stampy Wednesday!

NOEL

Happy Tuesday!

Koda goes to the groomers this morning so let's get right to it, shall we?

I needed a few more cards for my Open House display board last week.  I had yet to play with my Peaceful Pines stamp set so out it came … and this is what I made ...
I love how quick and clean this card is.  I got my inspiration from fellow demonstrator Kim Jolley over at www.stampinartfully.com .  Here is Kim's card …
I LOVE her card … alas, try as I might I just CAN'T seem to allow myself to make a no-layer card!  I tried to use her layout on a smaller Whisper White layer but it just didn't work very well.  It needed to be 5 1/2" wide to be visually appealing to me.  So I compromised and trimmed the top and the bottom so I GOT my layer … it's just 5 1/2" wide by 3" high :)

I ran the card base through the Softly Falling embossing folder …
(which I managed to crack when running it through the Big Shot by not ensuring it was aligned properly - ack!) … and popped the layer up on dimensionals.
The trees (from Peaceful Pines ) …
… were stamped in Sweet Sugarplum, Smoky Slate and Soft Sky (all Ss *lol*)

I punched "NOEL" out using the Wonderful Wreath Thinlits ..
… in both Basic Grey and Whisper White.  I glued them together with my Fine Tip Glue Pen ...
… and then to the card itself.  For the finishing touch I added sequins from the Fancy Frost Sequins …
… and that was it!  Quick and soft.  I love the final product … and yes, will be using it at my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack next month :)

That's it for today - off I go to traumatize Koda …
LOVE that face!

Have a stampy Tuesday :)

Elegant Detailed Santa

Happy Monday!

Yes, today is the only day with nothing on the calendar … seemingly until November!  Today's focus is prepping projects to present to the school for their students classes, prepping the templates for this weeks' classes and catching up on paperwork.  Before all that, though I wanted to share my second card made using the Detailed Santa Thinlits ...
Love!  It's so elegant!  What is it about black and white that makes me swoon?  Just love it!

Here is how I made this little cutie …

I used a scrap piece of Whisper White to punch out the Santa image ...
I then cut a piece of Basic Black that would be large enough to back the Santa image ...
I glued the white piece down with my trust Fine Tip Glue Pen (a MUST have item!).  I then grabbed my paper snips and cut away the excess black.  Sounds fussy … but it really wasn't that bad!
I taped the image to a Whisper White Base, stamped the Naughty or Nice sentiment in Black Memento ink, taped a piece of silver ribbon to the front, stamped and cut the scroll out and popped it up on dimensionals.  The bow.  For that I actually cut a piece of ribbon, made it into a bow and used a glue dot to stick it to the stip I had taped down.  This is a great way to conserve ribbon.  No need to wrap it all the way around the card - just tape a strip and "cheat" by attaching a bow to the front.
Here are the products I used for the card …

That's it for today.  Thanks for popping by - have yourself a stampy Monday!
